Gengar is born, this ghosthly Pokémon, always hiding in de shadows, is one of the scariest of all time. Even in the limited color-palette of the games 'Red', 'Blue' and 'Yellow', you will get a chill when Gengar is encountered. Gengar is known for his great 'Special Attack', which means he can perform Ghost-type moves very well.
Three years later, Gengar gets developed a bit further. Due to the improved color palette in the new generation of games; 'Gold', 'Silver' and 'Sapphire', Gengar receives his notorious and freightening red eyes. Did you know Gengar can steal a person's heat? If you suddenly feel you're getting really cold, it could be a Gengar that's creeping up to you.
In 2003, games in general have been getting more and more fancy, and the company that creates the Pokémon games, GameFreak, gets bigger and better too. The animations for Gengar and all other pokemon get more advanced, and Gengar is scarier than ever for the games 'Ruby' and 'Sapphire'.
For Nintendo DS games 'Diamond' and 'Pearl', Gengar gets even more detailed, and more stories around him are discussed and passed on. Gengar is known for hiding in shadows, but on a full moon, he can hide in your shadow too. So if you ever see your own shadow moving around indepently and laughing, it has most definately been stolen by Gengar.
Pokémon characters are now fully animated 3D figures, and of course, so is our spooky 'friend' Gengar. His eerie body and bright red eyes shine as never before. Even more reason for you to watch out for him, Gengar can lay a horrifying curse on you when you accidently walk through his soul levitating in de darkness.
